Lyle passed away on January 17, 2022, at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Alice and Alexander McIvor, his siblings, and his first wife, Joyce McIvor (nee Long).
He will be forever remembered by his loving wife, Sharon McIvor (nee Belziuk); children Don (Tracy), Malvena (Mike) McKinnon, Russ (Kerri-Rae), Louis (Tammy), Cody, and Tanya (Brad) Allen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and friends he met along the way.
Lyle was born on March 24, 1931, during a mild winter day in Carman, MB. At the age of 14 he ran away with the circus. Then later, he went to Military school to get his Paratrooper Wings. Coming from a family with a strong military history. When the Korean War broke out Lyle enlisted with the Special Forces. The 2nd battalion P.P.C.L.I. Lyle was 1 of 30 men who went over on the advanced water party. He fought in the Battle of Kapyong, and was presented the American Presidential Citation, which he wore proudly. Once back home he became a long-haul trucker across North America, as well as own and operate a family carnival until his retirement.
A Celebration of Lyle’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 19, 2022, at the Royal Canadian Legion Kingsway Branch No. 175, 14339 – 50 St NW, Edmonton.
