1935-2022
The family of Luetta Marion (Steeves) Smith is
deeply saddened to announce the passing of their dear mother on
Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Moncton Hospital at the age of
86.
Luetta is survived by the following: her sons;
Myles Steeves (Vicki), Walter Steeves (Clara), David Steeves, and her
daughter, Marion Steeves.
Her stepsons: Jimmy Smith (Nancy), and their children;
Rachel, Patrick and Julia; and Stephen Smith (Paula) and
their son Alexander.
Her grandchildren: Tonia Sherrard (Tom), Travis
Steeves, Catherine Steeves (Dean), Shawna Lutes (Patrick), Justin
Steeves (Alyssa) . Three great-grandchildren as well as many
nieces and nephews.
Luetta was born on June 16, 1935 in Havelock, New
Brunswick to Hilleard and Margaret (Coates) Branscombe, the eighth of
thirteen children. She is survived by sisters; Grace
Branscombe, Margaret Van Til, Lottie Forsythe, and one brother, Ivan
Branscombe. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her
first husband, Raymond Steeves and second husband, Jerry Smith; her
brothers: Everett, Earl and Arnold, and sisters; Myrtle Church, Evelyn
Colpitts, Gladys Church, Pauline Murray, and Florence
Branscombe.
Luetta was a member of Five Points Baptist Church
and the Salisbury Seniors Club, and attended both as long as she was
able. Dedicated to raising her family, she enjoyed her role
as a homemaker. Her manner was always kind and encouraging
and her positive spirit made her pleasant to be around. She
would drop anything if she was needed by someone and was never too
busy to help others.
She was loved by many and will be missed by
family, as well as Donna, a close family friend, and others who knew
her and enjoyed her company.
Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral
Home with a Celebration of life Thursday, May 26 at 6 p.m. followed by
a reception. Interment will follow at the Five Points
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be
made to the Five Points Church Cemetery Fund or charity of
choice.
