With the deepest sorrow and sadness, we regret to announce
the passing of our beautiful and amazing mother on Monday, March 14,
2022, in Canso Seaside Manor.
Born in Canso on May 28, 1943, to the late Joseph and Effie
(Fogarty) Long. Lucina held several positions during her
lifetime including Librarian, nurses aid, dog groomer,
Stedman’s, Reitmans and Zellers. Known for her sense of
humor and telling you like it is.
Lucina was predeceased by her loving husband of almost 60
years Victor Avery, she held the memory of him close to her until the
very end. Lucina was also predeceased by sisters Ella and Lillian and
bother Russel who passed away in child birth. She is survived by
daughters Lana Bishop (Daryl) Vikki Avery (Eddie Newell), grandsons;
Morgan and Joseph, granddaughter Jade, and great grandchildren Addie
and Jed, her sister Jean Bennett, niece Rhonda Bennett who we cannot
thank enough for staying by moms side, and sister in-law and
best friend Maimie Marcott as well nieces and nephews Paul, Pete, and
Sonja.
Special thank you to all the amazing staff at the Manor, Dr.
Chris, Rhonda Bennett and Dr. Judy MacNeil. Having her return home to
Canso allowed her to find some peace and happiness and got to
reconnect with some old friends. Even though she had
Alzheimer’s she remembered a lot of those people and never
ever forgot who we were!
Special thanks to our hometown Canso and all the amazing
people who were there for our family when we needed it
most.
The thought of her returning to Dad (Victor’s) arms
and is no longer fighting her long-time battle with
Alzheimer’s disease gives us peace and makes the thought of
losing her more bearable. She was a fighter, and we had our mom, our
Lucina, right until the end. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the
family at www.haverstocks.com
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lucina Maria Avery 1943 2022..
