Lorraine Reid 2022 avis de deces

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lorraine Victoria (Kantola) Reid announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, March 26th, 2022 with her endeared daughter, granddaughters, brother and nephews at her side.
Lorraine was born on May 24, 1941 in the former Port Arthur, Ontario and is survived by her beloved husband Roland Reid, children Lynn and Debbie, grandchildren Sarah and Emma and brother Ed. Lorraine was predeceased by grandparents Jaako and Aino Niemi, mother Kaija (Kay Kantola), uncle Eric Niemi, aunt Laila Kaufman, uncle Bob Kaufman and cousin Lee Kaufman.
Lorraine and Roland shared a lifelong love throughout their 64 years together. They were passionate about creating a healthy quality of life together which included wintering in southern Florida and Texas, spending summers at the lake, bicycling and, most of all, being in nature.
In her early years, Lorraine worked in administrative positions including Atkinson’s Jewellers. She was inspired to return to school as an older adult to obtain her post-secondary education graduating from Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree with a minor in Psychology, as well as a Bachelor of Education degree. Lorraine’s teaching career began in her later years as an elementary school teacher for the Lakehead District School Board, where she had a passion for nurturing students to discover their talents and strengths to accomplish their goals, in their own unique ways.
After retirement, Lorraine continued her work through volunteering with the Lakehead District School Board and schools in Florida and Texas, supporting elementary students one on one with their learning needs and supporting teaching staff in any way possible to enrich the learning environment. She adored children and touched the lives of many.
Besides her accomplishments and passions, Lorraine’s character is what really made her time on this earth significant. She lived life to the fullest and knew how to make anyone she met feel special. Her love for animals (dogs in particular) was exceptional. Anyone who knew Lorraine will tell you that she always had a smile on her face and could make you laugh. Lorraine enjoyed being social and getting together with family and loved ones.
Her inspiring perseverance, warm personality and loving nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The internment of ashes will be private by family members. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Blake Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society.
