Survived by her son Paul (Leslie) and daughter Susan (Tony), 4 grandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren and two special bonus grandchildren Nick and Sophie.
Mom was born in Hazelton BC in 1931. She, her mom, and her dad moved to Vancouver when she was 4 years old. She grew up in the Marpole section of Vancouver. Here she met her lifelong best friend, Carole Edgar. After graduating from high school, she completed a business course and worked for 3 years in a brokerage house. In 1955 she married my dad, and they lived in Jasper Alberta for 3 years. They moved to Burnaby and bought a house that had been built by Roger’s father, Ralph, owner of RB Wells Construction. While my dad worked for the Canadian National Railway my mom stayed home and raised my sister and I. I still remember coming home from school to the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. My mom and dad enjoyed camping all over BC. They went on cruises to Alaska and LA. They also enjoyed travelling to Reno with my Aunt Velma and Uncle Ray on several occasions. Much laughter and enjoyment ensued though sadly not many jackpots (that I heard about) After dad died, mom sold the family home and got an apartment in New Westminster across from Moody Park. She joined the Century House seniors Centre there and kept active while making many great friends. Mom spent her final years in the Maplewood House care facility in Abbotsford. The staff there were marvelous and kept the residents spirits up with visits from an Elvis impersonator, antique car shows in the parking lot, movie nights (although mom was apparently not a big Harrison Ford fan…) and plenty of walks looking at the beautiful gardens. Mom was a very happy person and made friends wherever she went. She will be missed. Please leave a comment about how you felt about mom, thank you.
