“Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.”
The world lost a beautiful and beloved mother, Loretta May Roberts, on February 20th, 2022. Loretta passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent hospice in the arms of her only child, Lisa Roberts, with loving family and friends by her side.
Loretta was born in Chatham. She was the eldest daughter of Clifford and Frida Dafoe. Loretta is predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, David Roberts, and her “baby” sister, Joyce Luyt.
Loretta worked at union gas for over 40 years and truly enjoyed her job and her coworkers, or is she liked to call them, her friends. To know Loretta in any capacity was to know what a truly generous, funny and loving person was. Her friends and family knew her as a kind soul with a warm smile to greet everyone.
Blessed with a wicked sense of humor and a compassionate heart second to none the red always said she never met a stranger. Loretta was a true cat lover, rescuing many cats and kittens over the years. Her loving nature knew no bounds.
While she would deny she was an artist, the beautiful hand-woven baskets and quilts Loretta made are a true testament to the fact that she was, without a doubt, a wonderful artist indeed. In her spare time, she enjoyed many activities at the active lifestyle center. As she said “you move it or you lose it! “
Loretta is survived by the light of her life daughter Lisa whom she loved beyond measure. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with Lisa attending a concert, live theater and traveling near and far. As a mother she was generous, loving, supportive and fiercely protective.
“Take the love you had for me and turn it into gladness, used to love you had for me to drive away the sadness. “
