Lona Evelyn White Thursday September 15th 2022

White, Lona Evelyn (Sollows), 75 years old, of Carleton, passed away suddenly in the early hours of Thursday, September 15, 2022, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with her daughters by her side. Born February 11, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Evelyn Sollows (Ellis) of Port Maitland. Mom enjoyed knitting, crochet, cross-stitching, and was an avid reader. She loved her Kobo eReader. In younger years, she loved to trout fish, swim, and really enjoyed her home on the lake, often bragging that she was the only one brave enough to take a dip in October! She liked to take drives out to Port Maitland Beach, and was often seen walking her grand-pugs up and down the Perry Road. She enjoyed her time spent travelling, hunting adventures at the Randall House with Dad and “the crowd”, and having coffee with her “summer neighbors” on their porch on the Perry Road. Mom enjoyed good seafood and a rare steak, a good cup of coffee on a quiet, humidity-free fall day, a good thunderstorm, but in recent years, her computer (mainly “the” FaceBook and Angry Birds), bingeing Netflix and chatting with her Home Care workers. She liked sitting by the window and watching the various birds that frequented her feeders and the wildlife that they attracted. She enjoyed her flowering bushes and trees blooming around the property, but she especially admired her holly bushes. During her working life, she was a long-time employee of Zellers, Sears, and Spears and MacLeod Pharmacy. She is survived by her daughters, Shelley (Paul Plourde) of Yarmouth and Tracey (Dwayne Allen) of Carleton; her granddaughters, of whom she was profoundly proud, Stephanie (Ian), Zoe (Chase), Brittany (Zach) and Taylor (Tyler); also brothers-in-law Llewelyn Outhouse, Port Maitland; Roger “Bud” White (Karen), Ontario; sister-in-law Doris White, Yarmouth; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest “Ernie Jr.”; her sister Beverly Outhouse; brother-in-law Doug White; and her granddaughter Adrienne. In keeping with Mom’s wishes, her remains are now in the care of the Human Body Donation Program, Department of Medical Neuroscience, Dalhousie University in Halifax. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeff Scott, Department of Medical Neuroscience at Dalhousie University, her Care Coordinator Sarah Fells, Gloria Jacquard, Yarmouth Argyle Home Support Services, EHS, Dr. Paul Legere, Gilles Robichaud, Diana Robicheau, and the staff of the Yarmouth Emergency Department for their kindness and compassion. Burial arrangements will be entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. A private service will be held at a later time. Interment will be in Port Maitland & Beaver River Cemetery. Mom would encourage you to support your local communities or donate to the charity of your choice. “Until we meet again” …. Ham.
