At 7:31 pm on Sunday August 21st 2022 my Mom, and the most beautiful human being that I have ever known, Lois MacDonald, took her last breath holding my hand while I, her only child, Sean, told her that I loved her – with her departed friend, John Allan Cameron, softly singing My Cape Breton Shore on my iPhone. She wasn’t scared, or in pain – and seemed somewhat resigned – if not content, to move on into the next phase of the universe’s plan to reunite her with the love of her life, my departed Dad, and her bookend, Blaise MacDonald. She is survived by myself, Sean, her biggest fan, and son, her sister Wyn Everett (Routledge), her brother Wes Routledge and the daughter she conceived by love, Gabriella MacDonald. Don’t cry for Mom – and don’t send flowers, instead do what she would want all of you to do – buy a bottle of wine and raise a glass with the people in your life that you love and live in the moment.

Dear Sean, Wes , Wynn and Gabriella,
We were so sorry to hear about our Dear Aunt Lois. We know that you will all dearly miss her. She was a kind and gentle lady who could also show great strength. However, she is no longer in any pain and that, in itself, is a blessing. She is now reunited with Blaise. May that be of comfort to you all. Hopefully you will find strength to cope using the love that she left for you all and your special memories of Lois. We also heard, Sean, what you told us all to do in her memory. Message received.
Love, and Deepest Condolences,
Doreen and Mike XOXOXO

Dear Sean,Gabriella and family. Ken and I were very saddened to hear of Lois’s passing. Lois and I were great friends and had many special memories of our many trips with the MacDougall girls pipe band. We shared many happy times with Blaise and Lois and had hopped to see Lois next summer on the Bras’d’or Lakes. I am so heart broken. Thinking of you during this difficult time.
