Lisa Christine Bennett 2022

Obituary of Lisa Christine Bennett
Lisa Christine Bennett nee Harling
June 5, 1976 – March 16, 2022
It is with deep sadness, heartbreak and profound loss we announce the passing of our beautiful Lisa. Under the compassionate care of Dr. Jinnah and the nursing staff at the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC), she passed peacefully with her family by her side. Lisa is the beloved wife and best friend of Greg Bennett and loving mother to Rayna and Olivia Perrotta and James Bennett.
Lisa was born in North Bay, travelled and settled in Barrie where she trained to be a Registered Practical Nurse. Lisa was an excellent and compassionate nurse who provided patient focused care at Soldier Memorial and Royal Victoria Hospitals while living in Barrie. In 2016, her family returned to North Bay, where she continued her nursing career at NBRHC. Lisa’s passion for nursing and learning enabled her to work in several hospitals and departments throughout her career. Although she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in 2017, she continued to work as a caring nurse until December 2020. Lisa was brave beyond words and did not let this illness stop her, she managed to beat the odds several times while having some setbacks along the way, but she often said, “that wasn’t a good day, but I am on the mend now” and never gave up hope. Lisa will be fondly remembered and missed by many of her co-workers, former patients, their families and her friends. Lisa and Greg were building an oasis at their home where she planned to take some time to soak up the sun and enjoy sharing poolside visits with her friends and family.
Lisa is the cherished sister and friend of Wendy Degagne (Patrick), Stephanie Harling, Danny Perrotta (Marta) and adored Auntie Lisa to Kylie, Morgan, Graci, Mackenzie, Rohan and Catherine. Predeceased by her parents, Valerie and Edward Harling, nephew Karam and grandparents from the Coghlan and Harling families, Lisa will also be sadly missed by her in-laws, Judy Holmes and Chris Bennett (Genevieve) as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and one of the joys of her life, Oscar, their family dog.
A select few had the honour and privilege of knowing the many other talents of this amazing and beautiful woman including her abilities to cook and bake, decorate and design, a secret but phenomenal singing voice, musical talent, entertaining dance moves and a laugh that induced more laughter. She was brilliant, artistic and talented at everything she did with surgical precision and perfection. Lisa was always generous, loved the beauty of nature and no matter her situation; she always put others first. With her love for travel and a sense of adventure, sometimes with nothing more than a planned route and a checklist of fun stops, Lisa and Greg embarked on some memorable vacations and had plans for more travel with their family. Lisa could be the leader of fun as well as the quiet observer and if she put her mind to it, she could do absolutely anything. Although Lisa’s life ended too soon, she made an enormous positive impact on those who knew and loved her. Her bravery, love and strength, drive and determination and never giving up will continue as her legacy and honoured by those she loved.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date TBA. Any donations in her honour to CHEO would be appreciated.
