Obituary of Linda Marjorie Munroe
Linda Marjorie (Nickerson) Munroe – Linda passed away peacefully at Sagewood Continuing Care, Lower Sackville on Tuesday, February 22nd. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald James Munroe and parents Ralph and Inez (Turner) Nickerson. Born in Halifax, Linda attended Nova Scotia Teacher’s College and later obtained a Master’s of Education degree from Mount Saint Vincent University. Linda loved teaching and especially enjoyed her work as a remedial reading specialist. She taught at various schools in Halifax until she married Ron in 1987 and moved to Ottawa. Linda’s generosity and hospitality extended far and wide. She loved cooking, tending to her plants, reading her Bible, and decorating wedding cakes. She often chuckled remembering when the following airport announcement was made, “Will the lady with the wedding cake please board the plane.” Linda is survived by sisters Ruth Weir, Ruby (Stephen) Sarty, Una Mae Roach; brother Herbert (Elaine) Nickerson, and sister-in-law, Eleanor (Mark) Zazulak and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sagewood for their exceptional and compassionate care over the years. Memorial service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, February 26th at the J Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax in the Chapel. Interment in the East Pennant Cemetery.
