Obituary of Linda Elaine Kenney
Linda Elaine Kenney
September 16, 1946 ~ March 1, 2022
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Linda “Granny” Kenney on March 1, 2022 at the age of 75 years in her home, surrounded by her children, at Candle Lake, Saskatchewan.
Linda Elaine Kenney was born on September 16, 1946 to Donald and Lily McKay in the Paddockwood Red Cross Outpost Hospital (the first in the British Empire). Linda was the fifth of six children, Doreen, Don, Betty, Jean, and her younger brother Maurice, all grew up together in Beaton, Saskatchewan.
Linda married Mike Kenney on July 31, 1965 and enjoyed 46 years of marriage. Although Mike and Linda lived in a variety of places in Western Canada, the majority of their lives were spent at Paddockwood and Candle Lake. This is where they raised their 4 children, Michelle McMurdo (Glen), Deborah Korol, Don Kenney, Marilyn Zak (Allen).
Although famous for her knitting and her homemade buns, Linda had many loves. These included gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, reading, quilting, leather work, beading, fishing at the trout pond and cheering on the Blue Jays. Endless hours of love were poured into the gifts she created for her family. Homemade sweaters, raw-wool siwashes, touques, mitts, leather mukluks, and intricate quilts can be found in each of our homes.
Her grandchildren, Nathan (Daena), Ashley (Julian), Jessica, Taylor (Jordan), Michael, Kelly (Tanner), Jaeme, Nicholas, Brody and Cole and 12 great grandchildren were blessed to have had such a special Granny. Many summer vacations were spent with Granny at beautiful Candle Lake enjoying the beach, great food, playing dice, visiting and campfires.
We were blessed by Granny. She taught us about generosity, the importance of family and modelled an inner strength beyond words. We will miss her dearly.
A celebration of remembrance will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
