Linda Louise King August 31st 2022

Linda Louise King (Schappert/Abdai) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Just three days after learning her cancer had returned she left this world on August 31, 2022 at the age of 84, only two months away from her 85th birthday.
Linda was born on October 31, 1937 to Henry and Elizabeth (Veal) Schappert and grew up in the Langenburg, Saskatchewan area. She was proudly known as the black sheep of the family for her free spirit, fun loving nature and relentless zest for life. She will be remembered for her beauty, crazy hair, gorgeous legs, humour, strong will and physical hard work. Linda’s creativity and seamstress skills were second to none. She sewed welding caps, wedding gowns, baby size and full-size quilts, Halloween costumes, crocheted doilies and made beautiful flower arrangements. Linda was known to grow huge vegetable and flower gardens and attracted the most hummingbirds in the neighbourhood. She was a lover of all animals and even had a pet raccoon and a bottle-fed baby deer. She loved elephants and had a collection of over a hundred elephant ornaments, trinkets, pictures and jewellery. She deeply loved being a mom and grandma.
In 1965, Linda married Albert Abdai. They lived on a farm by Esterhazy, Saskatchewan where they raised 7 children and fostered 11 others from infants to teens.
In 1988, she moved to Langenburg and worked at Gopherville.
Linda always loved a man in uniform and originally met RCMP officer Paul King when she was 16 years old. She later reunited with him after 42 years. They married on August 8, 2003 and settled in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
In December 2018, they moved back to her roots in Regina, Saskatchewan. This past August they celebrated 19 years of a very happy marriage.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Henry and Elizabeth; all of her siblings Lloyd (Ally), Elsie (Tom Hoad), Henry (Helen), Kingsley, Monte (Elsie), Mildred (Richard Marshall) and Richard; her daughter Debra Ward; step-son Ronald King; and step-grandson William Carwithin.
She leaves behind her loving husband Paul King, age 90; her children Evelyn Zeebeck, Wes Abdai (Laurie), Gail Abdai (Blayne Ulrich), Marj Quewezance (Paul Medvid), Rick Abdai (Brenda), and Lawrence Quewezance; step-daughters Linda King and Janet King; her 17 precious grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Helen Schappert (Kingsley) and Judy Schappert (Richard); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will forever be in our hearts and greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Linda King (Schappert/Abdai) will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Esterhazy Legion Hall, Esterhazy, Saskatchewan with a program of remembrance commencing at 1:00 p.m.
