Linda Jean Hayward 19482022

Linda Jean Hayward
1948-2022
Linda Jean Hayward, 73, of Salem, passed away
peacefully on September 13th, 2022, at the Moncton Hospital.
Linda was born in Wood Point, NB, on
December 29th, 1948, daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy (Wheaton)
Snowdon.
No matter the circumstance,
Linda worked hard as she could. Starting out as a waitress with Hub
Confectionary, she later moved on to work for T. Eaton Company,
Handleman’s Record Company and finally retired from The Folder
Factory. Despite the loud rumblings of the folder factory, the light
Linda brought could be heard overtop through shared laughter and
ongoing shenanigans.
Eventually leaving the excitement of the workplace, Linda spent
many days twiddling away in her greenhouse. She’d tend to her famous
tomatoes, her beloved hummingbirds as her seasonal companions. Rain,
muck, or shine, Linda was unbothered by it all, just loving to be out
in nature. Her patience would often win her the biggest catch of the
day while fishing or hunting. A trait that indeed came in handy
watching her husband George precariously swing their young
grandchildren in circles in the rain. Linda, George and family made
this and many more memories like it at their beloved trailer at Sandy
Beach. Linda’s welcoming nature created a place of gathering where
lasting friendships were made around the campfire.
Linda was also a very active volunteer with
the Hillsborough Kiwanis. Although not a member herself, Linda could
be found alongside her husband George, working the kitchen or lending
a hand at every event she could. She enjoyed BINGO and was comfortable
letting the callers, usually Albert, know when their efforts to call
her lucky numbers fell short.
Above all things in her life, she was most proud of her family.
She was very close to her girls and held a soft spot for her last dog
Charlie. It warmed her heart to have each of her girls live so close
by. She taught her girls the value of family and was so thankful she
got to see their own families grow. When her grandchildren were
little, they spent lots of time with Nanny and Puppy, which they will
all cherish greatly. Even as they got older and started living their
own lives, Nan was always supportive and would light up whenever they
were around. She will be remembered for her great sense of humour and
unselfish ways, as she was always putting the needs of others before
her own.
“My Mother
is a woman like no other. She gave me life, nurtured me, taught me,
dressed me, fought for me, held me, shouted at me, kissed me, but most
importantly, loved me unconditionally. There are not enough words I
can say to describe just how important my mother was to me and what a
powerful influence she will continue to be…Love You Always.”
She will be deeply missed
by her husband and best friend, George Hayward; daughters, Terri Dixon
(Kenny) and Tammy Christopher (Tim), all of Salem; her treasured
grandchildren, Brittney, Brandon, Grace, Aidan and Kayson (Faith); her
brother, Ben Snowdon of British Settlement; sister-in-law, Wendy
Snowdon of Wood Point. Special nephews, Gren Jonah (Kimmy) and Jeff
Jonah (Joanne), of Hillsborough, who were both like brothers to her.
She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and many good
friends.
Besides her parents, she was
predeceased by sister, Phyllis Jonah (Ron) and brother, Marven
Snowdon.
There will be a time of
visitation at the Albert County Funeral Home on Saturday, September
17th, 2022, from 12:30 pm until the service at 2:00 pm with Rev. Peggy
Reid officiating. There will be a time of further sharing of memories
and for refreshments following the service in the funeral home
reception area. Interment will be in the Shenstone Cemetery,
Shenstone, NB.
For those who wish,
donations to the Hillsborough Kiwanis or Shenstone Cemetery would be
greatly appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home,
4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H-3K2
