Obituary
Lillian Hrynchyshyn passed away at the Canora Hospital, Canora, SK, on October 13, 2022, at the age of 92 years.
Lillian was born on August 7, 1930, to Joseph and Nellie (nee Sliva) Yasinski of the Dobrowody District, north of Rama, SK. As the eldest child, Lillian grew up with her younger siblings, Eddie, David, and Emily. She attended Dydland School, where she achieved her grade nine education. She then went on to help on the family farm.
On October 28, 1947, Lillian married Albert Hrynchyshyn and they were blessed with three children, Elmer, Gloria, and Rodney. As a wife, mother, and homemaker, her life was busy with gardening, cooking, and baking. There was always fresh bread for a quick lunch and canning, borscht, and soups were a must – something Lillian continued until just last month.
In her spare time, Lillian loved playing cards, visiting with friends, and playing Bingo at Park Place, which became her residence for the past four years. Her strong faith brought her to church every Sunday and she instilled her beliefs through her family.
She loved her family and grandchildren and treasured their visits. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Nellie; husband, Albert; son, Rodney and daughter-in-law, Teresa; and two grandchildren, Todd and Lana.
She is survived by her son, Elmer (Kathy); daughter, Gloria; grandchildren: Kendra (Chris), Teniel (Travis), Jeffrey (Tyra), Joseph (Keisha), Trent (Bobbie), Joshua (Samantha), Jonathan, and Nathan (Bailey); great-grandchildren: Shanelle, Ryley, Kole, Cooper, Kade, Arthur, Opal, Hayden, Harlee, Cody, Malyk, Ksenia, Matteo, Rheanna, Emma, Annika, Erika, Scarlett, and Juniper; brothers, Eddie and David (Madeline); and sister, Emily; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
In Lillian’s honour, a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2022, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., prior to the Funeral Liturgy celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Canora, SK, with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac as Celebrant. Private Rite of Committal will follow in the Canora Cemetery.
Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church – Building Fund, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Lillian Hrynchyshyn.
