Obituary of Lawrence “Lornie” Patrick Wood
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence (Lornie) Patrick Wood of Tarantum in his 71st year. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years Karen (Ling), son Benjamin (Edmonton), daughters Rachelle (Jacques Ferrari, Moncton) and Melanie (Kim Bethke, Charlottetown), granddaughter, the pride of his life, Liliana (Lily) Ferrari, sisters Helen (Donnie), Betty Ann, Elinor (George), Florence and Elaine (Pat, Pointe-du-Chêne), and brothers Gerard (Barb) and Peter. He is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Lillian (McKenna) brother Jimmy, and in-laws Theopholis (Theo) Ling and Dorothy (Baker, Ling) Roper.
Lornie, born August 1,1952, grew up in Lake Verde. He was a fish farmer, red seal electrician, third class stationary engineer, and HVAC technician. He worked from tip to tip on the Island for Ainsworth, Air Tron, Direct Energy, Honeywell and others, before enjoying a well-earned retirement in 2017 after 46 years of working hard.
Lornie was proud of his Irish ancestry and loved gardening, travelling, golf, oil painting, wine making, hosting friends and family in his gazebo while listening to the hoedown, and most of all, being with his family, especially his granddaughter.
