McGregor, Lawrence 1951-2022
It is with great sorrow that the family of Lawrence “Larry” McGregor announces his passing at Extendicare York in Sudbury Ontario on December 6th 2022, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Carlene Jean McGregor (née Baldelli), Son of the late Irvin McGregor and the late Claire Gladish(Bertrand) (Walt Bertrand who survives). Eldest brother of the late Brian and the late Connie. Loving father of Tacie (Mike) and Scott. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered as Popa to Zakary, Dylan, Keegan, Morgan, Jennifer, Haylie, Payton and Audrey . Loving nephew of Duncan, (Marie) Watson of Vancouver, Joe (Pat) Gladish of Kamloops, the late Bobby, (Linda Bertrand). Missed by Brian and Brittney McGregor and many other nieces, nephews and friends. Special cousin of Wendy Higgins of Val Caron and brother in law Randy Baldelli of Sudbury.
Born in Chapleau Ontario, Larry spent much of his childhood in Sultan Ontario. At the age of 12 he moved to Philadelphia PA. where at age 18 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served 6 years.In 1973 he returned to Sudbury where he met Carlene Baldelli, the love of his life of 45 years. In 2016 Larry retired from the Ministry of Corrections, Sudbury Jail, having served 35 years and was the local union president for many years. He loved fishing and hunting. He was happiest cheering for his Philly sports teams and the Toronto Blue Jays. Larry spent much of his time on Ministic Lake and McGregor Bay. In recent years he moved to York Extendicare. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful care workers on the 6th floor, Dr. Kuchtaruk, Elise Therrien and afternoon nurse Marie.
As Larry wished there will be no service or visitation.
