Lavenia’s Obituary
SPENCER (Riley), Lavenia Mae ~ Age 83, of Grafton, Kings Co., formerly of Forest Glade, Annapolis Co., passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on April 14, 1939, in Annapolis Royal, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred B. and Jean M. (Clark) Riley. Lavenia had been employed in the house keeping department at Grand View Manor, Berwick, retiring with over 16 years of service. She loved shopping, cooking and going out to eat at restaurants. Lavenia loved time spent with her family as well as her best friend, the late Margaret Pierce. Surviving are her children, Elaine (Roy) Parker, Grafton; Wendy Spencer and Andy (Rhonda) Spencer, both of Auburn; Shelley (Robert) Budd, Upper Sackville; Karen (George) Chesley, Forest Glade; Derek Spencer, Grafton; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; sister, Audrey (the late) Larry Rainforth; brother, Raymond (Karen) Riley, both of Auburn; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Spencer; son, Douglas “Dougie” Spencer; brother, Edward “Eddie” Riley. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, in North Kingston Cemetery, with Rev. John Hannem officiating. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or to Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
