1967-2022
It is with sadness that the family of Larry Sandford
announces his death at Hospice Fredericton on Monday, February 14,
2022, at the age of 54. Born in Ottawa, ON, he was the husband of Tina
Sandford of Tracyville, NB.
In addition to his wife, Tina, Larry leaves behind his son,
Andrew Sandford (Carri); mother, Jean Sandford; father-in-law, Bill
Matthews; brother-in-law, Carl Matthews (Christina); nephew, Jaxon
Matthews; many extended family members. He also leaves his military
brothers and many friends. Larry was predeceased by his father, Eugene
Sandford, and sister, Lisa Sandford.
Aside from his family Larry’s greatest devotion was
to the military and those he served with. He joined the Military in
1987 first serving with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light
Infantry (1987-2003) in 1PPCLI Calgary, CFRS Cornwallis and 2PPCLI
Winnipeg. During his time with the PPCLI he also served in Germany
(1987), Croatia (1993) and Bosnia (1997). In 2003 he was
offered his Commission with the Royal Canadian Regiment and served the
remainder of his career at CFB Gagetown (2003-2020). He
served three tours overseas with the RCR in the Afghanistan conflict
both in Kandahar and Kabul (2005, 2007 and 2012).
Larry was an avid outdoorsman and supported many groups
including the New Brunswick Sport Fishing Association (Past
Chairman).
Visitation will take at Oromocto Funeral Home on Saturday,
February 19, 2022, from 2 – 4 pm.
Due to current restrictions, proof of
vaccination and government issued identification will be required for
entry to the visitation. For those who wish,
donations in Larry’s memory can be made to Hospice
Fredericton.
