Obituary
In loving Memory.
Klaus Kotzian, 87, Passed away March 8th, 2022 after years of dealing with Alzheimer’s. For the last year, he was in care at Trinity Long Term Care Facility in Penticton. Big Thanks go out to all the staff at Trinity for their loving and compassionate care.
Klaus was born August 28, 1934 in Berlin, Germany. Klaus was the oldest of four siblings, two sisters and one brother.
In 1957, after finishing his training in fabricating and design of metal parts for chandeliers, he came to Vancouver. He found permanent work with a propane company and worked for them for 20 years, first as a helper, then for many years as a tank-truck driver and finally as a dispatcher and shipper. He finished his working life as a school bus driver in Princeton.
In 1964 Klaus met his beloved wife Trudy in Port Coquitlam at her sister’s place. Trudy had just arrived from Germany for a visit. Their 58 years together can only be described as a ‘wonderful life’. In 1984 they moved to Tulameen. The small community gave them all they wanted and needed, volunteer work to help with different community projects, fishing in Otter Lake, hiking, bicycling, sailing, skiing, much beloved garden work, and the company of good neighbours and friends, all fulfilled Klaus’s life.
In 2015 the progression of his illness forced a move to Penticton. He too, good neighbours became friends.
Klaus was predeceased by his sister Rosie and brother in law Klaus. He is survived by his devoted wife Trudy, sister Gisela (Conny), brother Wolfgang (Ilona), sister in law Christel (Volli), sister in law Gisela (Horst), nephew Ralf (Karon), niece Barbara (Ken) great nephew Joel, Great niece Angela and many nieces and nephews in Germany.
The interment of his ashes at the Tulameen Cemetery, known as “God’s Little Acre” and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Friends wishing to do so may make a donation to the Tulameen Community/Flood Relief 2021 in Klaus’s memory.
