Kim was born in Rossland, BC on September 28, 1964. When Kim was 3 years old she and her family moved to Salmo, BC where she attended both elementary and high school. After Kim graduated she moved to Calgary, AB where her sister Tammy and her family lived. Kim had various jobs including home support and cashier at Sunterra Market.
Many of Kim’s interests while growing up included swimming, skating, riding her bike and of course watching television. She loved watching cooking and wrestling and knew every single time one of them would be on. Kim was very routine when it came to her daily schedule and had the best memory for remembering things we had all long forgotten.
Kim moved back to the Kootenays in 2015 with her sister Tammy, moving to Fruitvale, BC. Kim then went back to school and acquired her care aide certificate. She then at the age of 50 got her driver’s license, she was so excited and vowed never to take the bus again.
Kim was predeceased by her father John and her mother Sylvia. She leaves behind her sister Tammy, her brother Robert (Robin), nieces Candice (Gerry), Samantha and Amanda and nephew Justin (Jaylyn), great-nieces and nephews Owen, Ryn, Abigail, Heidi, Dallas and Jaxon. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family and dear friends.
Kim fought a courageous 6 year battle with cancer and her positive attitude and stubbornness got her through it all. Kim passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
Kim’s sister Tammy would like to give thanks to her children and their spouses along with 5 of her grandchildren for all pitching in when it was needed. We all pulled together as a family and made all Kim’s final wishes come true. For that I will always be eternally grateful. Thank you to Angii, Cale and Nancy for supplying an abundance of home cooked meals.
We would like to thank Dr. Edge, Occupational Therapists Sarah and Theresa, the homecare nurses from Chiro and the staff at Kootenay Columbia Home Medical Equipment. With all your effort and support we were able to keep Kim at home comfortably until she passed.
As per Kim’s wishes there will be no service. Kole Roth of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kim Yvonne Bruno August 27th 2022..
