Obituary
Kenneth Harold Joseph Lounsbury, 79 of Saint John NB passed away peacefully at his home in Kennebec Manor on September 11, 2022.
Ken was born October 27, 1942, in Moncton, NB to the late Harold Beecher and Dorothy Lottie (Metcalfe) Lounsbury both of Moncton, NB.
After Ken spent 2 years of his teens in the Canadian Army, he chose a different career path in the retail sector where he thrived and thoroughly enjoyed working, mentoring, and laughing with his many co-workers, peers and customers.
When not working Ken could be found volunteering with the Lions Club at the Loch Lomond Villa or tinkering around his home, as he was considered by many as a cross between Red Green and McGyver. Ken took up residence at his new home, Kennebec Manor in January of 2020 where he could be found wandering the halls chatting it up and joking with everyone. He loved to schmooze the Nurses, Personal Support Workers and staff whom he adored, probably hoping they’d give him some sweets. He loved his sweets! Ken also enjoyed bingo and the many fun and amazing indoor and outdoor activities the Manor provided.
Ken is survived by his 3 daughters; Patti Carver-Daley, Tammie Arseneault (John) and Debbie Lounsbury (Fred Landry) and his only sibling Linda Walker (Harry).
He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jessica LeClair (Eric), Chezla Carver (Dan Bowes), Luke Arseneault (Kate), Dawnya Daley (Harold Thibideau), great grandchildren; Remmington and Jaxon Leclair and Beau Arseneault; nephews Mike and Dave Brown and Randy Walker; many cousins and his supportive friends Rick and Linda Walker, Phil Webb and daughter Marsha, Joe and Lynn Gallant.
Along with his parents, Ken was predeceased by his beautiful and devoted wife Pat, daughters Paula and Susan and granddaughter Aleshia.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of the amazing staff at Kennebec Manor for their exemplary care and support for Ken. He spoke very fondly of everyone and couldn’t wait to get back to his Kennebec family when returning from outings. It always put a big smile on his face when they would greet him with hugs as he walked through the door. These actions and expressions spoke volumes about his Kennebec family who demonstrated not only their undying love and compassion for him and all their residents but support for the families as well.
Even through the past two plus strenuous years of being understaffed, over worked, quarantined, ever changing rules and policies, his care, dignity, and wellbeing were never compromised. Thank you again to the entire Kennebec family! You truly are what every home should strive to be like and where every family should be honoured to leave their loved ones in your care.
Following Ken’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA Animal Rescue, Parkinson Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kenneth Lounsbury October 27 1942 September 11 2022 (age 79)..
