Obituary
Kenneth Charlton (58) passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loving family and his wife Joanne by his side.
Ken was born on November 16, 1963, in Hinton, Alberta, to Len and Margaret. Ken was the youngest of 4 and was predeceased by his parents, sister Rose and son Wyatte.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Joanne. Daughter Kayleen (Mike), stepdaughters Kayla (Matt), and Stephanie (Cole), granddaughters Sophia, Savanna, Vara, Heidi and Amber as well as grandson Hunter. He is also survived by his brother Fred (Deb), sister Faye, nephews Shane (Jessica), Michael, nieces Karla (Dacey) and Michelle.
Ken attended school in Edson and Wildwood, where he made many long-lasting friendships. Ken was always easy going and would help anyone at any time. He would even give the shirt off his back… sometimes literally.
For the last 5 years, Ken worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Yellowhead County. He loved his work there and made many close friends. Ken also worked as a heavy equipment operator in the mines and oilfield, but his first love was driving big rigs. He often told stories about the time he spent running loads on the ice roads up north. This is also where he fell in love with the beautiful northern lights.
Ken always needed to be busy and enjoyed tinkering and fixing, often resurrecting old tractors and quads that everyone else thought had reached the end of their time. Ken also spent many years building an impressive John Deer collection, the only color that mattered was John Deer Green.
Ken had an infectious laugh and eyes that twinkled with mischief. His favourite song “Show them to me” by Rodney Carrington speaks volumes to his fun-loving character. His wife, children and grandchildren were the lights in his life. Through good times and bad, he loved and accepted everyone.
Ken left this life with dignity, pride and bravery. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends all who knew him.
