Obituary
On Friday, September 02, Kathleen Mary Heinrich (nee Gallagher), born of Selby, England, passed away at the age of seventy-two. Kathleen was devoted to her husband Werner (pre-deceased) and son Martin.
Kathleen, the youngest of five children, trained as a matron in Yorkshire, which upon attainment she used to immigrate to Ottawa, Canada where she served the Turners and met a very young Justin Trudeau. With her husband Werner, she set out to conquer the west living in Calgary, Winnipeg, Calgary (again), and finally settling in Comox where the hard working couple became well known as owners of Comox Bakery and Café for 23 years. She became known as ‘Mom’ to many from Highland that passed through the doors of her house.
An avid reader and conversationalist who shared a passion for travel with her husband, which has passed to the next generation of Heinrich’s. She is survived by her son, Martin, daughter-in-law, Cindy, and her two grandsons, Matthias and Nicholas, as well as her sisters and many nieces and nephews in England.
In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to Kitty Cat P.A.L. Society (kittycatpals.com), YANA (www.yanacomoxvalley.com), or the Soroptomist Society of Courtenay (www.wcsoroptimist.org/clubs-1/courtenay), three charities that were close to Kathleen’s heart; or a charity of choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kathleen Mary Gallagher Heinrich May 31 1950 September 2 2022 (age 72)..
