Obituary
Strutt, Kathleen “Kay” 1930-2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen “Kay” Strutt on May 23rd, 2022 peacefully at Health Sciences North after a long joyful life and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife and companion for over 58 years to Harold (2008).
Kay will be greatly missed by her children Kim Taylor (Dan), Debra (Rob), John (Helen), Jamie (Kathy) and her cherished grandchildren Darryl (Natalie), Allison (Steven), Samantha (Warren), Wilson, Kristin (deceased) and Jose.
She was an adored G.G. to Drake, Paige, Tyson, Xavier, Paloma, Odin, West, Lennox and Orion.
Kay had a special bond with her sister Evelyn Kilroy as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Kay worked for Ontario Hydro before devoting her life to raising her children and supporting her husband. Harold and Kay raised their family in Garson then they spent the first 26 years of their retirement enjoying Trout Lake and Florida. Kays’ gift of friendship and hospitality were put to good use in both locations. There was always a meal on the table and a bed to sleep in if you dropped by.
Kay lived at Westmount Retirement Home for the last 8 years. She made many new friendships with fellow residents and staff.
She will be remembered for her quiet determination, selflessness and her friendship to everyone. And, of course, her famous chocolate cake!
At Kay’s request, there will be no visitation or service. A private celebration will be held at a future date at the Crooked Hat Base.
When you have your next “Tippy Time” please raise your glass to Kay!
