Obituary
Kathleen Gertrude Dabor
Kathleen passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home in Warkworth, Ontario, on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Kathleen was born in Guelph, Ontario, on January 17, 1934. She is survived by the love of her life, Ronald Walter Dabor, her husband of 65 years, her sons, Ronald Clayton Ernest Dabor and Gregory Michael Dabor, and her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Kathleen is also survived by her brother David Shackleton and sister-in-law Dorothy, and her many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by her father and mother, Norman and Elizabeth Shackleton (née Ames), brother Norman Shackleton and wife Ella, sister Dorothy and husband Rawl MacKinnon, brother Clayton Shackleton and sister Audrey and husband Jim Davidson.
Kathleen was a woman of exceptional beauty and grace. Her striking beauty was matched by the warmth and strength of her inner spirit. Kathleen was a kind-hearted, generous soul. She happily gave her time to many charitable causes, most notably, the Canadian Cancer Society. Kathleen was intelligent and articulate, she did not hesitate to speak her mind, but she always was respectful of the opinions of others. Kathleen had exquisite taste in fashion and home furnishings. Every meal she prepared was so mouth-watering and delicious. Kathleen had great affection for animals, furry and feathered, including the family of raccoons who moved into the roof of the handsome home on Courrier Lane in Mississauga.
The night of November 10, 1979, Kathleen and Ronald literally ran for their lives as propane and liquid chlorine tank cars came careening off the tracks at what was then a level crossing on Mavis Road in Mississauga. Kathleen knew what was important and what was not, she famously left behind her fur coat on the front seat of their Lincoln Continental.
Kathleen was the Executive Assistant to Etobicoke-Lakeshore MP Patrick Boyer, Q.C. She served on the Disciplinary Committee of the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario.
Kathleen will be dearly missed by her extended family and many friends. A fitting celebration of her life will be held later this year, when we no longer have to gather under the cloud of this pandemic, when we can greet each other with a big hug and a kiss and be reminded of all the glorious parties Kathleen hosted over the years. Arrangements entrusted with Weaver Warkworth, 70 Church Street, Warkworth. Memories, stories and condolences can be shared online at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com
