It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Kathleen Crerar on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 94. Kathleen passed away peacefully with her children at her side.
Although Kathleen struggled with Alzheimer’s disease in her later years, she continued to be kind and respectful to others and enjoyed visits from family and friends. She was especially delighted by visits that included children and dogs – a guarantee to bring a smile and joy to her. Over these past couple of years, Kathleen even started to enjoy Zoom visits with family. In her earlier years, Kathleen was an exceptional seamstress. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. The family have many samples of her work to enjoy in the years to come.
Kathleen is survived by her loving family: Maureen Crerar, Peter (Donna) Crerar, Colleen (Ron) Hook; 7 grandchildren: Kelly (Jim) Fowler, Michael Crerar, Nathan Gow, Erin (Cam) Crerar, Matthew (Martina) Hook, Kirsten (Chris) Sorrell, and Andrea (Chad) Brown; 9 great-grandchildren: Oliver Fowler, Hugh Fowler, Jaeger Sorrell, Audrey Toews, Ryker Sorrell, Kira Sorrell, Nicholas Hook, Emma Brown, and Lucas Hook; brothers, Edwin (Eileen) Ward of Sherwood Park, Kenneth (Ruth) Ward of South Africa; sister-in-law, Joan Ward of Maple Ridge, BC; cousin, Catherine Trudeau of Quebec; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was born in Benoni, South Africa, and immigrated to Canada with her husband and children in 1964.
Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Hugh (1975); infant daughter, Patricia (1954); parents, Mary (1983) and William (1961) Ward; as well as her brother, William (Bill) Ward (1996).
The family extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Devonshire Care Centre for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Kathleen during the past three years.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 11, 2022, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 210 Haddow Close, Edmonton, followed by an Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate and share stories of Kathleen will take place later in early summer.
