Obituary of Kathleen Ann Mary McManus
McManus, Kathleen Ann (nee Watters)
Passed away peacefully on July 30, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was married to Dr. William McManus for over 57 years, who predeceased her in December of 2011. Kathy is survived by the loves of her life: sons William, Kevin (Holly), Brian (Erin), Tim (Lesli) and Shawn (Heidi), and daughter Trish (Pat), her grandchildren; Matt, Sean, Kirsten, Ashley, Dylan, Ryan, Darby, Dalyce, Hannah, Mikenna and Kelia. She loved spending time with all her children and grandchildren and cherished their many accomplishments. She also took pride in their academic and professional achievements.
She spent the latter years of her life living with her daughter Trish and her family, sharing many moments and memories together.
Dear daughter of James and Ann Watters, predeceased by sisters Betty, Mary Ellen and brothers James and Joseph who are waiting to welcome her in heaven. She will be missed by her many close friends including; Helen Pringle, Jen Ryan, Lenore Simpson and Earl and Coralie Woods as well as all her “bridge buddies”.
Kathy was crowned Detroit’s top model and hosted the Detroit and Cleveland Voyage of the Great Lakes. Her career brought her to Miami, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia. Kathy was offered a modeling contract in Europe, but chose the more important role of becoming a wife and mother. She believed first and foremost that family came first.
Golf was a passion of Kathy’s that she shared with Bill although her passion burned a lot brighter. Kathy’s golf career began in her early thirties. She was a two-time runner up in the Women’s Es Golf Club Championships (1972/1999). She also won the Women’s Senior Club Championship and served as Captain twice. Kathy’s love of sports was also showcased at the Es Ladies League for bowling and The Windsor Curling Club, where you could find her on the rink with her friends on any given sheet winning a few trophies along the way.
Kathy was a devout Catholic with strong convictions in her faith. She believes she will meet Bill in heaven and was often heard to quote her favorite pope, Pope John Paul II, “Do not be afraid.”.
Her family would like to thank Hospice of Windsor for the tremendous care that they provided throughout her stay.
