Karen Lynne Grace Duhamel (née French)
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of Karen Lynne Grace Duhamel (née French). Karen was 52 years old and passed away on July 22, 2022, in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
She was born on January 31, 1970, in Sudbury, Ontario to Donald and Patricia French. Her sisters, Michelle and Pam also welcomed her, later to be joined by her sister, Nicole.
Karen graduated from Grande Prairie Composite High School in 1987, after which she attended the University of Calgary where she earned a BA in Psychology.
Karen’s working life started with a job in retail sales of menswear. Later on, the insurance industry caught her interest, and she began to gain experience there. Karen worked hard to build up her knowledge and eventually started her own business as a group benefits consultant holding a designation as a Registered Employee Benefits Consultant. Her business, Kompass Benefits Consultants, was very successful.
Karen was active in her community by playing a key role in the fundraising of the Clover Bar Ranch Spray Park, among her other voluntary efforts.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tessa and Jacob Duhamel; her mother, Patricia Reid; her sisters, Michelle Thompson (Michael), Pam Dueck (Dana), and Nicole French-Gillies (Kevin); nieces and nephews, River, Cailey, Sarah, Talon and Andrew; as well as extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Donald French; her grandparents, Gordon and Grace French; and grandparents, Jean and Annette Chagnon.
A private family service will be held at a later date with interment to follow.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.
