Karen Lynn Petrie, age 74, of Stratford, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Oshawa, ON, daughter of the late Gordon & Lucille (Whitter) Mark. Karen is survived by her true love and best friend of 53 years, Dennis Petrie. Much loved mother of her two boys Mark (Lisa) and Mathew (R. H.). Proud grandmother of Julia, Kyler, Kate and Alexandria. Karen is survived by her brother Bill Mark and his wife Lynda and her sister-in-law Donna Mark. Karen will be remembered fondly by the Petrie in-laws Fred (Edith), Earl (Josephine), Robert Petrie, John Feehan, Ted Thomas, Linda Petrie, Joanne Petrie, Ed Cassidy and her many many nieces and nephews. Karen worked at the Stratford Municipal Golf Course for 36 years and had planned to return for the 2022 season. Karen had many interests in her life, she was an avid reader and once got lost in a Barnes & Noble bookstore, she loved her dog Cooper, and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be missed at “The Muni” as well as by many neighbours at home and at the cottage. Besides her parents, Karen was predeceased by her brother Brian Mark and Petrie-in-laws Emerson (Marie), Ken, Gary, Marion Feehan, Shirley Thomas, Helen Petrie (Gladys) Donna (Don) Zehr, Lois (John) Schmidt and Marlene Cassidy. A Celebration of Karen’s life will take place in the spring of 2022 at the Stratford Municipal Golf Course and will be announced through the funeral home. Karen was a true giver and touched many lives without any fanfare.
