Warner, Karen Anne (Murphy) born
February 14, 1961, passed away in St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital, Antigonish on November 4th, 2022,
after a courageous battle with cancer. She never gave up. Karen was a
daughter of Elaine (Dixon) and the late Joseph Murphy. She grew up in
Halifax where she spent her childhood days swimming, figure skating
and much more. She also loved spending her summers at the cottage her
father built with family in Mount Uniacke. After graduating from
Sackville High School, she went on to achieve a BBA with a minor in
psychology from Mount St. Vincent University, all on her own while
raising her daughter. Karen explored several jobs throughout her life
and fostered children before going on to retire from The Nova Scotia
Advisory Council on the Status of Women. She then went on to become
the founder and owner of Skinfix Inc. Karen enjoyed great success from
this endeavour, retiring for good at the age of 51. Karen spent time
during retirement on her beach picking sand dollars, listening to hip
hop music while cruising in her Benz, and with her family who were her
greatest treasures of all. She had many talents, hobbies, and
interests, some of which include sewing and creating her own clothes
and handbags, painting, crafting, stained glass, cooking, and baking.
She was an avid traveler and had been all over the world. Karen adored
taking trips with her grandchildren, shopping, and hosting every
family event she could. She had a great love for animals, nature, and
lived for those hot sunny days. Karen was incredibly kind,
intelligent, caring, inspiring, adventurous, funny, and supportive.
She was a fantastic daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and
foster mother who was loved dearly and is greatly missed by all close
to her. Karen is survived by her husband, Peter Warner; son, Samuel
Murphy; daughter, Jaclyn Lively; grandchildren, Janelle, Breanne,
Olivia, Isaac; brothers, Kevin Murphy, Steve Murphy; nephew, Jonathon;
her beloved dogs, Jakie and Joey and cat, Girly. She was predeceased
by her sister, Mary Jean Murphy. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday,
at 12 p.m. in St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Sherbrooke
with Father Elliott O’Neal officiating. Burial at a later
date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only
please. Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha’s
Regional Hospital Palliative Care Fund. Funeral arrangements are under
the dignified and compassionate care of the G.W. Giffin Funeral Home,
St. Mary’s Chapel, Sherbrooke.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Karen Anne Murphy Warner 1961 2022..
