June and Lawrence Gauthier 2022

June Audrey Gauthier (nee Moon)
December 31, 1936 – November 21, 2021
Lawrence Joseph Gauthier
April 25, 1936 – May 17, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence, peacefully after a long battle with prostate cancer. Preceded in death by his beloved sweetie, June, his wife of 61 years on November 21, 2021, and his identical twin, Donald. Loving dad to Lisa (Reid) and Shelley (Al). Adored by his grandchildren Jeff, Holly, Jack, and Will. Loved brother of Bob (Marg) and sister-in-law Dena. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Marie (Bob, deceased), and brother-in-law Harry (Lynn). Predeceased by his parents Herman and Louise, birth mother Edna, in-laws Ivy and Harry, and brothers Leon and John. Lawrence was born in Matheson, Ontario and while still a boy, moved to Mississauga to live in the house he helped build. After marrying, he and June moved to Brampton to raise a family.
Always a hard worker, Lawrence had many careers over the years including owning a gas station and garage, building aircraft engines, and overseeing environmental systems for the Simcoe County School Board. Lawrence and June loved to entertain, dance, and travel. Family vacations included the cottage, camping, and exploring Canada. Lawrence was an avid Leafs and Jays fan, and loved to golf, fish, and play poker. Tai chi later became a shared interest with June. As empty-nesters, Lawrence and June moved to Barrie where he rebuilt an antique wooden boat, played with his grandchildren, and eventually retired. When June’s health declined, Lawrence simplified their life, moving them to a cozy stream-side home near Aberfoyle, so he could care for June while enjoying Scrabble, gardening, and building bird houses. He could fix or build almost anything and was ever the patient teacher. Over the course of his life, Lawrence always put family first, caring for his wife and children, and making
everyone laugh along the way.
A celebration of life will be held for Lawrence and his beloved Junie at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Hart Fellowship Lounge.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stone Lodge and Hospice Wellington. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.
