Jozefa “Josie” Hnatkowski (née Tymczyszyn) of Kincardine, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre Kincardine on Thursday, September 1st, 2022, in her 85th year.
Beloved wife of Tadeuscz “Ted” Hnatkowski.
Loving mother of Irene Harris (Neil) of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Patricia Perkins of Kincardine.
Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Matthew Harris (Julia), Nolan Harris, Kevin Harris (Courtney), Troy Perkins and Dallas Perkins (Emily) and great-grandchildren, Jack and Benjamin Harris, Cameron, Liam and Alla Perkins.
Fondly remembered by her sisters, Christine Ganyu (Zoli) and Donna Dwyer (Mike) all of Kitchener, Ontario.
Predeceased by her parents, Stefan and Maria Helena (née Gazda) Tymczyszyn.
Josie was born in Poland and emigrated from England to Canada in 1951 with her family after the second world war. They settled in Raymond, Alberta.
In 1956 her family moved to Galt, Ontario and it was there that she married the love of her life, Ted. Together they raised two daughters. Josie was a wonderful Polish cook and baker. Her perogies and signature lemon meringue pie left us all wanting more.
Josie enjoyed caring for people in the hospital when she worked as a nursing aide. Over the years her hobbies included crocheting, needlework, and she was an avid reader. She loved music and dancing especially the polka. She and Ted also square danced for many years.
Her greatest love was her family for which she took pride in caring for. Over the years she was faced with health challenges and she did this with strength, dignity and grace. She will be lovingly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Kincardine (749 Russell Street) on Friday, September 9th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment Kincardine Cemetery
