Obituary of John Franklin Herman
Rev. John Herman passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on November 16, 2022 following a brief illness.
John is survived by his wife Marilyn (Mountain) Herman and their families: John E. Herrmann (Amy) and children John A. Herrmann (Caitlin), Tarrah Frye (Bradley), Taylor Herrmann [Daniel DiPerna]); Jane Sparks and children Olivia Sparks and Alana Sparks (Ian Bagg); Jill Herrmann and children Matthew Reddick (Roxanne Stevenson), Kayden Reddick, Payton Reddick, Hailey Stevenson and Hayden Stevenson; Chantelle Marshall (Peter) and children Keegan Marshall (Shaylyn Currah), Kiana Marshall and Liam Marshall; Melanie Dodds (Mike) and children Meredith Dodds (Jacob Clarke), Adam Dodds, Catherine Dodds (Colton Tompkins); and Sean Robinson (Carla) and children Ryder Robinson and Addison Robinson. John is also survived by brother-in-law David Mountain (Lenora) and sister-in-law Bonnie Hueston (Brock).
John was a man filled with joy, humour and energy whose legacy is the love of family, the respect of those impacted by his ministry and the memories of the many friends as well as strangers that he engaged with, listened to and shared stories with. A man of many projects, John’s legacy also includes New Hope Senior Citizens Centre which he founded at the Robert Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Montreal, Trinity Place Seniors Housing and Services at Trinity Presbyterian Church in London, and the Stone Barn retirement home he built for himself and Marilyn.
A celebration of John’s life will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church Harrington (963727 Road 96, Embro) on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 2:30 p.m., with visitation from 1:30 until the time of service and refreshments immediately following the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church Harrington or to a charity of one’s choice.
