Obituary of John Brant Sr.
`Long` John Brant Sr. of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory was born to George Matthew Brant and `Micky` Lorraine Bernice Maracle-Brant on the 5th of September, 1950, and peacefully passed away in his sleep with man`s best friend, Davey the boxer on the 16th of February, 2022. He has now joined his deceased younger brother Terry Dobbin. John was loved and will be greatly missed by his last surviving sibling Karen Hottinger (Glen), his 4 children Christine Nellis (Johnny), Lori Brant (Jeff), Trevor Wood (Barbara), Johnny Brant Jr. (Crystal), his 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Over his long life, our father was a dog lover (especially boxers), counselor, mechanic, a lover of old cars and of good music and a notorious sarcastic joker. Many people in Ontario and beyond have shared a couple-3 beers with him, enriching his life and ours. He was a hard working and honest man, much like the men of his time, and from that environment we have all grown into strong, independently minded, capable, and intelligent men and women he could be proud of. From him we learned that you must pick yourself up when you fall, and do the best you can no matter the circumstances.
He was loved from the moment he watched us open our eyes, until the sad day we watched his remain forever closed. As per his wishes, he is to be cremated and put to rest with his mother in the family plot, with no viewings or ceremony. Anyone that wishes to, please feel free to make a donation in his name to the Human Society Hastings Prince Edward in Belleville, Ontario, where he got his last best friend Davey.
