John’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Thomas Hardy announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 21st at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, at the age of 85 years. A fisherman by trade, John enjoyed the outdoors to the fullest. He spent countless hours fishing and berry picking, but his favorite hobby was his vegetable garden. Born in Rose Blanche, John was the son of late Annie (nee Hepditch) and John Hardy. He will be forever remembered with many fond memories by his loving wife of 63 years, Yvonne (nee Rose), as well as his sons: John (Ethel) Hardy, Roger (Beverly) Hardy, and Lynn (Janice) Hardy. He has also left to mourn: his five grandchildren: Jody (Bruce) Buckland, Jay (Hope) Hardy, Mitchell (Katherine) Hardy, Mallory (Riley) Hardy, Kaitlynn (Kirk) Legge and eight great-grandchildren: Ethan, Caleb, Jaylah, Noah, Allie, Lexi, John Thomas, and Vincent. He will also be missed by his sisters and brother: Rita Currie, Violet (Russell) Clarke, Joyce (Fred) Wells, Gerald (Mary) Hardy, as well as his sisters-in-law Wanda (Rick) Edwards, Shirley Hardy, and brother-in-law Calvin (Gertie) Rose, plus all of his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law George and Laura Rose, his sister Mary Clarke, brother Clifford Hardy, sisters and brothers-in- law Georgina Rose, Roy Currie, Bert Clarke, Wilburn Rose and Meg Rose. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 2 p.m. from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Grand Bay-Port aux Basques officiated by Rev. Faye Coffin. Interment to follow at the Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road, NL. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory can be made to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre.
