The death occurred at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, PEI, on
Thursday, with his loving family by his side, of John Patrick (Jackie)
Morrissey, formerly of Tignish, aged 93. Born at Sea Cow Pond on June
14, 1929, he was the son of the late Pierce and Patricia (nee Cahill)
Morrissey. Beloved husband of Aldona Mary (nee Perry)
Morrissey.
Dear father to Percy (Wilma), Mary Frances (deceased in
infancy), Jimmy (Bev), Patsy (Billy) Gavin, Donna (Phil) LeClair,
Paula (Jimmy) Buote, Betty Ann (Allie) Richard, Sheila (late Ed)
Hodgson, Joey (Trudy), Cindy (Ernest) Perry, and Patrick (Marsha).
Survived by his sister, Margaret (late Ray) McHugh, sisters-in-law,
Marie Morrissey, Lena (late Chester) Handrahan, Irma (Louis) O’Rourke,
Frances (late Gerard) Richard, and Lester Perry. He will be sadly
missed by his 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 2
great-great-grandchildren, and by his 5
step-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Andy Richard, and a
great-grandson, Oliver Buote. He was also predeceased by siblings,
Dorothy (late Dr. Wilbert) Shea, Marion (late Walter) Harper, Lillian
(late Basil) Whelan, Everett, Carmen (late Howard) Hogan, Jean (late
Lloyd) Ready, Bernard, Betty (late Alonzo) Hogan, Phyllis (late Leo
Dorgan and late Kenneth McHugh). Also survived by numerous nieces and
nephews, friends, and acquaintances.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours
Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday afternoon from
St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 3:00 p.m.,
Rev. John Molina, Celebrant. Interment will take place in the Church
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Simon
and St. Jude Building Fund or St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund,
would be gratefully appreciated.
