Smith, John Osbourne – 73, It is with great sadness, we the family, announce the passing of Johnny Smith of Lower Clark’s Harbour, NS, on August 16, 2022 at Roseway Hospital. Johnny was born September 18, 1948. He was the son of the late Ernest and Judy (Ledrue Symonds) Smith. Johnny was a retired lobster fisherman, who also spent many years handlining and trawling. He was a handyman who could fix or repair just about anything. He loved deer hunting, duck hunting and telling some tall yarns. – His father once said “He may lie to ya a little bit, but he’d never hurt ya.” Johnny is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elsie (Symonds);daughter, Ronda (Allen Townsend) of Grande Prairie, AB; granddaughter, Cadence of Grande Prairie, AB; 4 great-grandchildren, Naveaya, Obbrie, Scotia and Tyson; brothers, Wayne (Lucille) of Upper Clyde and Carl (Judy) of North East Point; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Christopher “Sater” (Heidi Nickerson); brother, Roddy and sister, Donna (Ralph Jones). The family would like to express sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Yarmouth and Roseway Hospitals, the paramedics, VON, Continuing Care, as well as all of the medical professionals along Johnny’s journey. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22, at 2:00 pm from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel with Gary Cunningham officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or any charity of choice.
