It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. John Hupka of Smoky Lake, AB on April 1, 2022 at the age of 92 years. John is survived by his children, Adeline, Alvina (Paul) Hughes, Len (Darlene) & Leona (Mike) Paush; grandchildren, Jordan, Kelsey & Devon Hupka, Courtney (Mike) & Mackenzie Paush; great-grandson, Cayden; sister, Effie Young; sisters-in-law, Emilie Prodaniuk & Vickie Hupka; numerous nieces, nephews & friends. John was predeceased by his wife, Mary (2006); parents, Tanasi & Leontina; parents-in-law, Stanley & Nancy Soyka; brothers, George, Bill (Mary), Peter (Anne) & Alex; sisters, Sadie (John) Paholka, Alice (Wilf) Coyne, Velma (Bill) Paulencu & Anna, who died as a child; brothers-in-law, Bud Young, Walter Prodaniuk & Mike Soyka; nieces, Sonjia Bauer, Susan Melnyk, Bonnie Cooper & Tracie Herms; nephew, Robert Young. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Ukrainian National Hall (107 Willow Creek Street, Smoky Lake). Reverend Father Kolin Berglund will be officiating with interment in Sts. Peter & Paul Russo Orthodox Chahor Church Cemetery, Barich (60176 RR183). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chahor Church or Canada-Ukraine Foundation c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul AB T0A 3A1.
