After a short battle with Cancer John left us on March 10, 2022. Fifty seven years ago with Rose & Paula in tow John began his working life in Toronto, moved to Richmond Hill and along came David. A year spent in Cape Breton, a year in limbo, we finally came back to Petawawa. In 50 + years along with his family John successfully started a contracting business, worked in the North West Territories for DDC, built 5 houses for his family, including the final one for retirement. Along the way he helped with the starting of the Petawawa Civic Centre, played hockey, played ball, golfed and most importantly fished & cruised the Ottawa River.
John built his last house in 2014 and we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. John was still building rafters in his garage in 2020 and enjoyed “his” View of the Ottawa River, his love of country music, being the #1 fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, helping organize & attending the Van Hoof Reunion, which was very important to him. John was so proud of his grandchildren & just loved his Charlotte & Lucy.
He will be missed by his wife Rose, Paula, David, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, brothers & countless nieces & nephews, his favorite sister-in-law Rita & husband Bob.
Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a celebration of John’s life at a later date.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of John Henry Hoofy Van Hoof March 10 2022..
Death notice for the town of: Eganville, Province: Ontario
Very sad to learn of John’s passing. I will always remember the many great times we all had at the Bahn. John and Rose organized an incredible amount of events for us all. The Great Canadian Open was always a highlight of the year. He was always willing to help everyone even if they weren’t a Leaf’s fan. Will treasure the many hockey related discussions we had. John will be greatly missed but always fondly remembered. My thoughts and prayers go out Rose and the entire family at this difficult time.
