Peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday October 22, 2022 at Vision Nursing Home, Sarnia, Joan King (nee Esseltine) passed away at the age of 78. Beloved wife to the late Bill King (2017). Loving mother to Carolyn King, Vicki (Patti Dobbin) King, Don (Karen) King, Virginnia (Carl) Bright. Proud grandma to Abigail, Emma and Clara Mitchell and Kelsey, Taylor and Greg Bright and will be fondly remembered by Matt and Josh Harper. Joan is survived by her siblings, Barb and Charlie Birdsey and Robert and Elizabeth Esseltine and her in-laws, Ron and Delores King, Anne and Bob Wilkinson, Marg and Craig Smith, Murray King (Marjolein Potvin), Norm and Gwen King, David and Teresa King and Judy King. Predeceased by her parents, Archie and Jean Esseltine and in-laws, Gordon and Reba King, Marie Kernohan, George King, and James King. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Joan was a Secretary for Errol Village Public School for 32 years, a lifelong member of the Women’s Institute and was heavily involved with 4H, Plympton-Wyoming Agricultural Society and Camlachie United Church. She was an active community member for numerous organizations and projects and a proud farmer’s wife.
Visitors will be received by the family on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Wyoming Chapel of Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 650 Broadway Street, Wyoming. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Camlachie United Church, 6784 Camlachie Rd. Camlachie, Ontario. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
