Joan Elizabeth Kelly
May 21, 1935- June 27, 2022
Entered eternal rest at Chancellor Park Nursing Home on June 27th surrounded by her loving family Joan Elizabeth Kelly (nee Simmons), 87, of St. John’s, formally of Glenwood after a courageous journey with pancreatic cancer.
Predeceased by husband Cyril, sons Gerard and Wayne, granddaughter Tonya Lepe, son-in-law Bob James, parents Annie and Stanley Simmons, and sisters Beatrice Simmons and Rose Watkins.
Leaving to mourn daughters Marilyn James, Jocelyn Downer (Cyril), Laura Harris (Dean), and daughter-in-law Mae, sons Larry (Karl), Tony (Ros), Raymond, Cyril (Mic), and Danny, 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family and friends, particularly dear friends Irene Broderick, Pressie McDonald and Bernice Hart, and her many friends at Bishop Meaden Manor where she resided for 12 years. Joan was blessed with special and loving care providers during her illness from Compassion Care, in particular Lily Collins and Tracy Colbourne, and an amazing nursing, medical, recreation, dietary and hair dressing team at Chancellor Park who met her every need. The family will be forever grateful for their loving care.
Resting at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Glenwood, with visitation on Wednesday, June 29th at 7-9 pm., Thursday, June 30th at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral of Christian burial on Friday, July 1st at 11am. Interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Glenwood.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association in memory of Joan.
