Obituary of Joan Ann Emmerson
Born January 14th, 1934 (Shared her Birth date with her youngest grandson Jesse). Passed away peacefully at Port Perry Place, at age 88 on Wednesday, January 9th, 2022. Joan (nee Lomas) is survived by her husband Gord Emmerson, (married for 67 years), her son Bill and his wife Lisa, her daughter Patti and her husband Greg, and her grandchildren Bradley, Jason and his wife Saara, Robert, Lexi, Nicholas and his wife Shantara, Lindsay and her partner Francis, Chris and his wife Marisa, and Jesse and his wife Beki as well as eleven great grandchildren. The grandchildren all have fond memories of “Christmas at Grama’s house” filled with ice cream sundaes and novelty gifts she made for all!
Joan was an active member of the Port Perry Senior’s Club and she received the Ontario Citizens award for volunteering in the community. She was an excellent seamstress, making costumes and wedding attire over the years. She enjoyed all her lifelong friends and loved entertaining big crowds and hosting parties. Joan enjoyed travelling across North America with Gord in their motorhome. They also took their grandchildren on several trips to Florida and Northern Ontario. Joan’s daily routine always included feeding the squirrels and the birds. Special thanks to the staff at Port Perry Place for all the care they provided. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
