Obituary
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine – James (Jim) Penner entered into his heavenly home on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at the age of 86. He was preceded by his parents Alfred and Erika Penner.
Jim is survived by his wife Janet; brother Gordon; sisters Elizabeth and Nancy (David); sons Terry (Mary Lynne), Scott (Marcia) and Jason (Shelly); six grandchildren; Kenton (Alyssa), Melissa (Steven), Cassandra (Ricky), Amelia (Kai), Dakota and Colton and ten great-grandchildren.
Jim was born July 31, 1936, in Steinbach, Manitoba. At an early age, his family moved to northwestern Ontario to build the family lumber business. Jim was raised to love Jesus and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. At the age of 19, he ventured west for the first time, spending a year working on a ranch in Saskatchewan before returning to Ontario to work at the family lumber mill. In 1958, Jim married his sweetheart, Janet. They had a beautiful marriage, centered on family, church and raising their three boys. Jim enjoyed camping road trips and teaching his sons to hunt and fish. A diligent worker, Jim continued to work in the lumber industry until his retirement in 1994. Then, he ventured west again, where he enjoyed farm and ranch life, settling near Rumsey, Alberta.
Though a man of few words, the things most important to Jim were clear through the way he lived – faith, family and working until the job is done. Though Jim will be greatly missed by all his family, we are happy he is home.
A private family Interment Service will take place.
