James Edward Colley
(August 30, 1940 to August 18, 2022)
Passed away peacefully at Rotary Hospice in Stratford, surrounded by his family at the age of 81. James, or Jim as friends and family called him, was a kind, eternally positive, and talented man with a great sense of humour. A musician, an entrepreneur, and a friend to many, but his greatest achievement was his family. Predeceased by his first love Lise, he was blessed to find companionship again with his wife and best friend Rosemary, who also predeceased him on May 15th, 2022. Father of Gregory (Jessica) James, Celina Colley, and Becky (Thomas) Dahm. Jim was predeceased by his son, Andrew Colley. Papa to Piper and Hayden James, Dakoda and Kaleb Thibideau, Tyler and Brooke Dahm. Younger brother to Janet Miller of Kitchener. Prior to moving to Alliston, Jim was an active member of the Milverton community serving with the Milverton Lions, The Rod and Gun Club, and the Milverton Legion Branch 565. In addition to the many hours spent volunteering with these organizations, Jim and Lise also owned The Natural Food Market in Waterloo and Milverton, as well as the Main Street Cafe and Pizzeria in Milverton. While volunteering and healthy living were passions of Jim’s, his first passion was music. Yes, he was a drummer in a Rock and Roll band. Jim played drums for the The 5 Ascots, travelled all over North America performing, and loved to tell the tales of his adventures. In retirement Jim enjoyed tinkering with his model trains. Cremation has taken place and the family will gather for a private service as Jim wished. If you would like to honour Jim’s memory, make someone smile or laugh as he could so easily do, take time to listen for the drum beat in your favourite song, smile the next time you are stopped at a train crossing, and think of all Jim meant to you. If a monetary donation is wished to be given, we would love to see that go to Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, as they treated Jim with the best care, dignity, and respect he so well deserved.
