On June 18, 2022, Jeffrey Martin Kenneth Michels at the age of 42 passed away unexpectedly, leaving no chance for the many who loved him to say goodbye. Nonetheless, we take comfort in knowing Jeffrey will live on in his son James Michels Ferguson, who was the world to Jeffrey, and in Jeffrey’s wife Beth Ferguson. His mother Elaine (nee Atherfold) and brother Richard (Renée Labrosse) will nurture many wonderful and fascinating memories of Jeffrey.
Jeffrey was predeceased in 2021 by his father Martin. He was also predeceased by grandparents Henry, Maria and Doris Michels, and Madeleine and Kenneth Atherfold.
To know Jeffrey was truly to love him. Jeffrey was someone whose path took many turns and he really did take the road less travelled in any way he could. Whether busking with his guitar outside of Bluesfest, playing poker with his buddies, or fishing at his family cottage in Calabogie, Jeffrey loved to use his talents to bring joy to others. But nothing brought more joy to Jeffrey than fatherhood. Jeffrey patiently taught James how to love and embrace nature, how to swim and fish, and also how to be kind. Because Jeffrey was kind.
For Jeffrey’s aunts and uncles, cousins, and many friends, they will remember Jeffrey with love, affection, and more than a few tales of peril, calamity, and hilarity. He will be fondly remembered by his birth family, the Strachan Family. A private family burial will take place where Jeffrey will join his father and his grandparents Madeleine and Kenneth Atherfold.
