Obituary
Jean Simpson
The family of Jean Simpson are deeply saddened to share the news of the peaceful passing of their Mum, Gran & great Grandma on October 26th, 2022, at the Tudor House PCH.
Mum was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire, England in 1933; wanting to provide a better life for her family, she emigrated to Selkirk, MB, Canada in 1968, with her late husband, Walter, and their 4 children; Annette Grieve (Bill), Yvonne Oxer (Howard), Andrew Simpson & Philip Simpson (Annette).
Mum was a doubly qualified nurse, graduating in 1964 as a Mental Health nurse in England and in 1972 as a Registered nurse from the Misericordia School of Nursing. She chose to pursue her passion for Mental Health and worked at the SMHC until her retirement in 1988.
Mum had many hobbies, she was an avid gardener & artist, she loved to sew, crochet, and knit, creating many beautiful garments that she wore with great pride.
As well as family, one of Mum’s greatest passions in life was to travel; she visited 6 of the worlds’ 7 continents and loved to share her remarkable adventures with her grandchildren: Nicola Seal (Kevin), Simon Grieve (deceased), Mark Oxer (Corine), Lisa Hansen (Matt), Brenden Simpson (Allison), Tyler Simpson, Cody Simpson & Lee-Anne Simpson and her great Grandchildren: Noah Mirza, Nevia Mirza (Rob) & Benaiah Oxer.
Mum leaves to mourn, along with her Canadian family and friends, her sister Isabelle and many nieces and nephews in England.
Our family extends sincere gratitude to the Physicians and all of the staff at the Tudor House PCH for their kindness and compassionate care, Mum always felt respected and cherished in ‘her home’.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mum’s memory can be made to the Tudor House Alzheimer Garden or a charity of one’s choice.
A memorial service will be held on November 5th, 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church, Anglican, 227Mclean Ave, Selkirk, the Rev. John Giroux presiding.
