Jean M. Butland
1930-2022
Jean M. Butland, 91, of Waterside passed away peacefully on
March 12th, 2022 at the Moncton Hospital with her family by her
side.
Jean was born in Waterside, NB on December 21,
1930.
She was a hard worker and very reliable member of the team
wherever she worked. Her last job was with the
Albert County Hospital where she enjoyed many years of
serving her community before retirement. She married Henry
Butland and started her family which was her priority in
life. Jean grew up with all the Rossiter’s and
had lots of aunts, uncles and cousins who were more like
sisters and brothers to her. The last remaining
member of the Rossiter family is Marjorie Butland of
Fredericton.
Jean had a great smile and loved to laugh. She
enjoyed going out to BINGO with her friends and they always
had a lot of fun.
To her children, she kept them grounded, gave
them guidance, showed them an example of a strong woman.
They could not have asked for a better mother to care for
them. She lived on her own when Henry passed away, and she
wouldn’t ask for help but was very grateful for the help of her family
to be able to stay in her home. Her home in Waterside was
her safe place and she enjoyed being there very
much. She refused to give up and always had the motivation
to keep going no matter what. She has left us a
legacy of determination and laughter. “She
will live on in our hearts forever.”
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Janet Smith
(Paul) of Albert Mines, Barbara Butland (Tom Furlong) of Hopewell
Cape, Darlene Butland (Lee Burrell) of Hopewell Cape and Lynn O’Hara
(Danny “Schultz”) of Waterside; son, Steven Butland
(Roxanne) of Curryville; by her cherished grandchildren, great
grandchildren and by all her extended family and
friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry; and grandson,
Dana
Honouring Jean’s own wishes there will be no visitation
or funeral service.
For those who wish donations to the Riverside-Albert
Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of the donor’s choice
would be greatly appreciated by the family.
