In loving memory of Jean-Baptiste Gerard Ruest (JB) (John) of Sudbury, 89 years young, who passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Health Sciences North with his loving family by his side. Beloved husband to Yvette (Maisonneuve) predeceased in 1996, proud father of Michel (Mike) Ruest of Sudbury ON, Caesar and Lori (Powell) Ruest of Keswick ON, loving grandfather of Connor and Liahm Ruest of Waterloo ON, and Brianne Ruest of Sudbury ON. Lovingly, by his side for the past 20 years, his square-dancing life partner Yolande Gervais of Sudbury ON. Born May 24,1932 to Gerard and Alicia (Spencer) Ruest of Timmins Ontario. Brother to Annette Ruest of Campbellford ON, Romeo (predeceased) and Geraldine Ruest of Cornwall ON, Cecile and Larry (predeceased) Turner of Timmins ON. In Timmins, JB enjoyed the Sea Scouts, racing his stock car, and dancing with the Tisdale Square Dancers. He and Yvette married in 1955 and came to Sudbury in 1962. They both taught and became part of the student culture for the Sudbury Board of Education for over 25 years, retiring in 1987. He was a natural teacher, and a mister fix-it. JB enjoyed singing with the St. Patrick’s Parish choir and Northern Echoes. JB and Yolande were very active within the Square-Dancing Association of Ontario. Funeral services will be held March 26, 2022, at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Visitation from 11am-2pm, chapel ceremony and small luncheon from 2-5pm. Époux bien-aimé d’Yvette (Maisonneuve) décédée en 1996, fier père de Michel (Mike) Ruest de Sudbury ON, Caesar et Lori (Powell) Ruest de Keswick ON, grand-père aimant de Connor et Liahm Ruest de Waterloo ON, et de Brianne Ruest de Sudbury ON. Amoureusement, à ses côtés depuis 20 ans, sa compagne de vie danseuse carrée Yolande Gervais de Sudbury ON. Né le 24 mai 1932 à Gerard et Alicia (Spencer)Ruest de Timmins Ontario. Frère d’Annette Ruest de Campbellford ON, Romeo (prédécédé) et Geraldine Ruest de Cornwall ON, Cecile et Larry (prédécédé) Turner de Timmins ON.
À Timmins, JB a apprécié les Sea Scouts, pilotant son stock car et dansant avec les Tisdale Square Dancers. Lui et Yvette se sont mariés en 1955 et sont venus à Sudbury en 1962. Ils ont tous deux enseigné et fait partie de la culture étudiante du Conseil scolaire de Sudbury pendant plus de 25 ans, prenant sont retraite en 1987. Il était un enseignant naturel et un monsieur réparateur. JB a aimé chanter avec la chorale de la paroisse St. Patrick et Northern Echoes. JB et Yolande ont été très actifs au sein de la Square-Dancing Association of Ontario.
Les funérailles auront lieu le 26 mars 2022 à la Maison Funéraire Jackson et Barnard, 233 rue Larch, Sudbury. Les visites seront de 11h à 14h et la cérémonie à la chapelle et petit déjeuner de 14h à 17h.
