Janita Burke 1943 2022

Janita Burke, age 79,
passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022, surrounded by her
family following a courageous and heartbreaking battle with dementia.
Although we are profoundly saddened by her loss, we find comfort in
knowing that she is now resting peacefully, finally reunited with her
beloved husband Alfred Burke Jr. who predeceased her in 2011. Born in
Cap-Pelé, she was the daughter of the late Oswald and Rita
(LeBlanc) Doiron.
Janita’s
greatest joy and accomplishment were her children: Daniel Bourque
(Sandi) from Stratford PE, Annette Léger (Paul Babin),
Diane Belliveau (Billy), Pierre Bourque (Janice), all from Shediac.
Her heart was full when her grandchildren were born:
Stéphane Belliveau (Julie Caron), Ricky Belliveau (Veronica
McInnis), Morgan Bourque (Coadey Lougheed) and Isaac
Bourque. She was blessed in 2021 with the sweetest
great-granddaughter, Ava Belliveau.
She is also survived
by two brothers Ovila Doiron (Prémilia) of Grand Barachois
and Gérald Doiron (Rolande) of Cap-Pelé; three
sisters Géralda Doiron (Philippe), Bernice Landry (late
Roméo), and Rosella Léger (Roger), all of
Cap-Pelé. One sister-in-law, Marie Doiron-Léger
of Moncton and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two
brothers Claude Doiron and Clairice Doiron.
Janita always
maintained a very faithful life. She enjoyed bowling with friends,
singing in the choir, doing puzzles and Word Search for countless
hours, as well as laughing and having fun at sewing retreats. Quilting
was her passion. Janita was a member of the Pinwheel Club, the Greater
Moncton Quilt Guild and “Les coudeuses de par chenous”. She
was very meticulous in her sewing and lived by the moto “if
it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right”.
Her quilting friends always endeavored to achieve her level of
perfection by measuring their work with the thought of…hmm
would this be Janita approved? Janita was very giving and
generous, friends and family were grateful to receive her beautiful
quilts.
Janita was an
excellent homemaker. She made the best sweets and comfort dishes. She
made every birthday and holiday extra special, particularly Christmas.
She leaves behind so many good memories and her family all recognize
how lucky they were to have had the privilege of knowing and loving
her.
The family extends its
heartfelt thanks to Nicole LeBlanc and the wonderful staff of the
“Ti” Bons Soins for the compassionate care and comfort they
provided to Janita. We are also very grateful to Denise Cormier,
Chantal Boudreau, and Lise Cormier for their unwavering devotion and
care at home. We couldn’t have gotten through this without
you.
