MAILLET, Jane (Elizabeth)
January 11, 1958 – January 26, 2022
Passed away peacefully in her sleep due to complications from leukemia at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, ON. Born in Etobicoke and raised in Streetsville, the daughter of the late Philias Maillet and Merante Maillet. Sister of Cecile Platt and Clarance Maillet. Beloved wife of 40 years to Jim (Quigg). Mother of Candice (Matt), Brendan and Courtney. Caring grandmother of Emma, Jackson and Lylah. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Sara (Dereck), Christopher (Jennifer), Mitchell, Madeleine (Alan), and Liam.
Jane enjoyed spending summers at the cottage in Huntsville and creating fond memories with the Simeoni family. Jane committed her time over the years volunteering with Clarkson Soccer Club, Mississauga Swimming, Girl Guides Canada, and St. Francis of Assisi School and Church. She graduated from Sheridan College and became a legal secretary for 10 years before changing career paths to pursue her passion for interacting with and supporting others. Jane dedicated 30 years working at Metro Foods in Clarkson, and fondly enjoyed the relationships she developed with coworkers and neighbours over the years. Working in the produce department with Dave and Mikey and spending time managing the garden centre were things that Jane most enjoyed about her time with Metro. Jane will be remembered by neighbours from Inverhouse and Homelands. She would always look forward to the annual street parades, Christmas street-party, Back Forty Canada Day celebrations, and pool parties with her dear neighbours. Jane spent time helping to raise her beloved grandchildren and shared a very special bond with Emma and Jackson. Jane enjoyed her shopping adventures with her dear friend Bonnie, baking, gardening, needle-point, walking Bailey and connecting and playing games with her virtual friends. The Christmas season was Jane’s favourite time of year, as she would always look forward to decorating, baking and making her family and friends feel the Christmas spirit. Jane will be fondly remembered for her caring and supportive nature.
Jane’s strong sense of determination helped her put up a courageous 9-month fight against leukemia. Jane received outstanding care from the nurses and staff at Juravinski Hospital throughout the entirety of her inpatient and outpatient care. The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia-Horton, Janelle (Nurse Practitioner), Joanna (Social Worker), and all nurses and staff at Juravinski Hospital.
